
St Catharines, Ontario–Seven Wisconsin Girls Rugby players were invited to join the USA Rugby All-American XVs camp to tryout for the national U-18 team with possible inclusion on the squad that will play a friendly against Canada at the end of December. Included in the squad were players from the Bruisers (1), Catholic Memorial (2), DSHA (1), and Hamilton (3). This is one of the first steps in a path to being an Olympian.
Selected to camp were Gwen Knutson (Bruisers), Haley Crow (CMH), Alyssa Cunningham (CMH), Jenna Klenz (DSHA), Chloe Miller (Hamilton), Hannah Pfersch (Hamilton), and Morgan Price (Hamilton).
The girls were scouted by USA Rugby at the Midwest Regional Cup tournament while they played for the Wisconsin All-Stars this spring. At the this tournament the girls went undefeated, winning both the varsity and JV Midwest RCT trophies.
The camp ran from August 20th-24th. USA Rugby will announce which players advanced to the national team in the coming weeks.
