After Graduation

The WGR encourages all of the young women in our league to continue their rugby journey after high school. No only is rugby a great source of exercise, it’s a great way to make friends, network for jobs, and perhaps even obtain a scholarship for college.

There are many opportunities for women to participate in rugby after high school. Some of these are listed below.

Women’s Collegiate Rugby

Athletes from Wisconsin Girls Rugby are well-represented in collegiate programs across the state, country and even overseas. With 9 women’s rugby programs in Wisconsin and over 400 programs nationwide, there are many schools to choose from.

If you are interested to play rugby in college, use the links below to locate a program at a school of interest. Be sure to enquire about any scholarship opportunities when choosing schools.

Women’s Club Rugby

If you are not attending college, or if your college does not have a rugby team, consider one of the women’s club rugby programs in Wisconsin.

Club rugby teams typically compete locally and regionally and train twice a week in the evenings. Matches are typically on Saturdays.

Refereeing

Refereeing rugby is a fun way to stay connected and give back to the sport. WGR offers a referee mentor program called RaMP that helps WGR alumni become certified referees in a flexible environment.

If you are interested in this program, please sign-up here or contact the RaMP coordinator John Waliszewski via email.
